Fourth-year swimmer Gordon Shortt (Simcoe, Ont.) and fifth-year basketball Axewoman Haley McDonald (Port Williams, N.S.) were named The Athenaeum Male Athlete of the Year and the Jean Marsh Female Athlete of the Year respectively at this year’s Fred G. Kelly Awards Night.

Axewomen fifth at U SPORTS nationals

Sandy Saunders had a game-high 19 points to lead the No. 7 seed Acadia Axewomen to a 78-76 win over the No. 5 Calgary Dinos in the consolation final of the 2023 Protocase Women's Final 8, presented by Bell, at the Sullivan Field House in Sydney on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Saunders was six-of-nine from the field off the bench for the Axewomen to help her team win their season finale.
