We know firsthand how transformative an Acadia education can be.

Since joining the Acadia Alumni board in 2019, I have been continually reminded of the pride we share in our alma mater, not only for our strong traditions but also for the quality of the academic experience and the sense of belonging we carry with us. We were never just students moving through courses—we were part of a community that challenged us to think critically, act with purpose, and build lasting connections.

Acadia continues to nurture that same spirit while looking ahead with vision and care. At the heart of this work is the institutional pillar of Strategic Academic Programming, ensuring that Acadia’s academic offerings continue to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. This is more than curriculum design—it is about reaffirming the essence of an Acadia education: an applied liberal education model that cultivates critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and leadership. This means not only preparing students for their future career path, but also equipping them to adapt, lead, and make a difference in the world.

As an Indigenous woman – only the seventh woman to serve as President of the Acadia Alumni association – I am hopeful to see the ways in which Acadia is weaving equity, inclusion, and accessibility into this work in a meaningful way. The University is building programs and supports that ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive—an approach that enriches the Acadia experience for all and strengthens the value of our degree.

As alumni, we know firsthand how transformative an Acadia education can be. The friendships, the professors who encouraged us to see the world differently and challenge the status quo, the small classes where our voices mattered and made a difference—these are the experiences that shaped us. And now, Acadia is ensuring that future generations have those same opportunities, along with skills and knowledges which reflect today’s challenges and possibilities.
